#1.1 Creating a SQL Server Database Connection
To create queries, you must first create a connection to the data source. Queries can be run over the connections that are created. In Figure 1, click the icon number 1 to create a new connection. The connection type is selected from field number 2.
In Figure 2, the link name is typed in field 1, the description is typed in field 2, and then the Next button is clicked.
In Figure 3, the server name or IP address is typed into field 1. If you do not know the server name, select the SQL server on the network from the drop down menu. In the field number 2, the selection is made and the SQL user name and password are written. The database is selected from field number 3.
